We can see how unsure Rafa gets – does his work really have the merit that people would pay that much for it, see it as art, etc? If Elan never told him and Rafa found out later, and felt more indebted/ imposter syndrome / etc, it would have been really bad. So knowing that Rafa has pride and had a bias against rich people, Elan does need some courage to talk about what his privilege has allowed him to do for Rafa here.
