The brightest planets – Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Saturn – yes, if you can find a dark spot. If you can find a REALLY dark spot in the suburbs, then Ursa Major, yes, and Orion and Cassiopeia. But Ursa Minor and Polaris? No way. And something as faint as the glowing dust clouds of Milky Way? Not unless a power outage darkened the whole city.

I’m an amateur astronomer in real life, and while it makes great poetry, without several hours’ drive out and back in, the city lights will keep them from seeing most of those things.
