  • Oh wow. Jake. Actually doing something smart? Trying to get a legal job? Trying to get his GED? Asking for help? Not being an evil snarky bast*rd?

…..Is he possessed or extremely ill/dying?

….Did what Rafa say to him actually get through his thick skull? (the shock!)

………………….. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH JAKE??? : O

  • General Educational Development (GED)[1] tests are a group of four subject tests which, when passed, certify that the test taker has American or Canadian high school-level academic skills.
Although the “GED” initialism is frequently mistaken as meaning “general education degree” or “general education diploma”, the American Council on Education, which owns the GED trademark, coined the initialism to identify “tests of general educational development” that measure proficiency in science, mathematics, social studies, reading, and writing. Passing the GED test gives those who do not complete high school, or who do not meet requirements for high school diploma, the opportunity to earn their high school equivalency credential, in the majority of the United States,[2][3] Canada, or internationally.[4] In 2014, some states in the United States switched to alternate exams, HiSET and TASC

thanks a lot! Also for the link :D

A GED is basically the equivalent of a high school diploma. It’s usually an option for those that either can’t do high school for whatever reason, can’t graduate, can’t finish, can’t receive a diploma etc. You can still get into college with it, but one would wanna check their college of interest admission/enrollment policies before applying, since every institute is different.

      thanks for the explanation :)

Well, there’s only two ways to explain Rafa and Jake’s relationship. One is that Jake is just that friend from childhood that some people are too loyal to ever get rid of no matter how much of a jerk they’ve become. The other is that Jake actually has some good qualities buried very very very very deep.

I do wonder if Jake is choosing legit employment for his own sake or because he wants to heal the rift between himself and Rafa. I think Jake is not the type of person who has had much genuine respect and affection in his life. When he lost Rafa, he lost a friend, a lover, and maybe one of the few people who believed in him. Deserving it doesn’t make the fallout from his actions any easier to live with.

Still, he has the choice of shaping up or just going on as before, knowing that Elan will always bail him out as long as Elan thinks that Rafa will be the collateral damage in the world’s war on Jake. This move probably took more self-reflection than Jake has done in his whole life to this point. If he keeps that up, he might just turn out to be redeemable or something.

Yeah, seconding all this. Well-thought out and well-put.

But about the knife – the caption said something about “did you forget about the knife?” and the knife we saw ended up with Rafa, didn’t it? Which is scarier somehow, not because I think Rafa’s got any bad intentions but because I’d hate for him to get in trouble over something stupid.

    • bronakopdin

      I hope not >_<'
and I must have missed the caption… oh really something similiar just happened on another webcomic! I should rest…
