  • Donald Burch

Enter Uncle Felipe! I like the family resemblance. I also take note to how he is colored warm and real with eyes as wide and as blue as Elan’s. The bottom image of Felipe kissing a younger Elan underscores how special their bond was. It strikes me as ever more a crime that Daddy Dearest came between them. I can’t wait to see how Felipe influence’s Elan’s life.

    • Aurelie86

I don’t think The Mice wants to be on the news for inciting riots statewide:
“Rioters all had their web browser open to Elan Meets Rafa moments before smashing their computers.”

    • kuku

Yeah, there is so much tenderness in the last image.

  • I think I like him better with more hair…but glad to see I am not the only one! Thank you for voicing that!!

    • Aurelie86

I liked him more with hair too but I just really like hair in general ><

  • kuku

Yes yes yes! Just what I was hoping! Sorry I called you Felix on the previous page, Uncle Felipe – same word, different language I think! And yay for Gerard knowing to say “he seemed upset, so look up.”

    • Aurelie86

I like the way Gerard worded it too.

      • kuku

Gerard has really come around to the good side, which can’t have been easy considering how scared he was.

        • Donald Burch

Gerard is a hero in my opinion. He placed his livelihood at risk. He faced very real and considerable danger in order to help Elan. He needs some love from the story before it’s over. Since he is on speaking terms with Felipe it seems he has been walking a razor’s edge for quite some time.

        • D. Garrett

i think he loves elan and put his concern 4 elan above that of himself .

    • bronakopdin

“Felix” means “the happy one” in Latin, while “Felipe” should be derived from ancient Greek “φιλίππος” and means “the one who likes horses” but I like both names :D

      • kuku

Yeah, I realized that later – Felipe is like Philip – it starts like Feliz, though, so it sounds happy to me. Thanks!

        • bronakopdin

ah is that Spanish? Because I don’t know Spanish, but it sure looks similiar and Feliz is probably derived from the Latin felix, too so no wonder you mixed them up xD

          • kuku

Yeah, so “Feliz Navidad” is “Merry Christmas.” Feliz rhymes with “say PEACE.” Felipe rhymes with “say HE pay.” (Except the Spanish vowels are shorter and purer, not long diphthongs like English ay.)

          • Michel Proulx

Felipe (Philip, Philippos) is greek. “Lover of horses”.
Lots of our names are Greek: like Alexander (“best of men”) and so on. Some get a lot of variants in the various European languages and even non-european. Take Stephanos which means “crowned” it is Stephen in English, Etienne and Stéphane in French, Esteban in Spanish and so on.

          • bronakopdin

I just explained the exact same thing above xD
I’m a Latin and Ancient Greek student you know ^^
Many names are derived like that and of course they’ll differ in the various languages :)
Sadly I only know my mother language German, then English and my ancient languages, I’m learning Italian though ^^

  • Roxabel Victoria Pérez Egaña

OMG. Let go. Let go who. No. Don’t. (Sorry, just some random freaking out).

By the way… OMG Elan’s uncle is just so cute <3 Love him <3

    • Donald Burch

The terrific irony of love is that we only really experience it once we let go of expectations. Elan and Rafa have demonstrated over and over that they trip and stumble over preconceptions about what love is and what they mean to each other. Only by letting go of their past can they be free to see their future.

  • bronakopdin

and there he is, he looks awesome!
I don’t mind him with either look, though! The longer and shorter hair, more or less beard, I don’t care, in either version you see his kindness written all over his face, sometimes you see someone and immediatly know that it’s a good person and uncle Felipe is the perfect example! Have a good talk you two :)

    • Donald Burch

As we’ve seen with the examples of Elan and Rafa even good people mistakes. Uncle Felipe has been fighting Daddy Dearest for six years in court. Will he resist the temptation to draw Elan in on his “side” of the battle? I doubt we’ve seen the last of Daddy-Dunderhead. He spent years gathering and fabricating “evidence” against Elan. He won’t let his son’s growing a spine throw him off-course for long. What role might Felipe play? Elan needs an angel right now but this story has shown us all along; we’re all only human.

      • kuku

When Elan first announced to his dad that he was going to give all his money away, I thought “save a little for yourself, hon.” But then I realized that if he managed to give all his money away, after that his father would probably leave him alone. We can hope.

        • Donald Burch

Perhaps but Arthur Singer has proven in the past to be a cruel, vengeful, and vindictive man. Look at how he treated his son. Think about the way poor Gerard fears him. Something tells me that if Elan “cost” his father a veritable fortune then Daddy might spend the rest of his life making his son regret it, dearly.

  • Pamela Cunningham

I’m just glad that someone is there when Elan really needs them and it’s even better that’s it’s his uncle .Known Rafa needs someone to .

    • Donald Burch

I agree, both boys are caught up in a tangle of preconceptions and false assumptions. Rafa needs a wise voice, someone he trusts to clear the crud away and help him sort things out. Interesting how both boys have the same need and similar challenges while they are at opposite ends of the economic spectrum. It only goes to show that problems and drama never discriminate.

      • Pamela Cunningham

@Donald Burch you are 100%right about these boy’s . But at least Elan will have a mentor in his uncle but who is there for Rafa ? other then the restaurant owner or maybe someone we haven’t met yet .

        • Donald Burch

How about Carlise, the waitress at the diner? She has been there for Rafa before and she definitely has a good head on her shoulders. It has been quite some time since we’ve seen her.

          • Pamela Cunningham

@Donald Burch I don’t know why I forgot about Her . Of course she was there for him when Elan got shot .She’s the perfect person for Rafa to get advice and to talk over his troubles with . Plus she was pretty close to Elan and understands him really well .

          • Donald Burch

Bingo! She knows them both and if anyone can sort out the mess in Rafa’s head it is Carlise(and if she gets hold of Elan, him too). Though, with the image on the home page it looks like Carlise might be a little busy tending her own life right now.

          • Pamela Cunningham

Yeah I saw that to I’m guessing were going to see Carlise back story with her girlfriend . I see that it’s not gonna be pretty with a bruise and violence .Which is surprising cause I never thought that she would let anyone disrespect her . Anyway it may take Rafa a little bit of time before things get straightened out .

  • SmokedBoo

God, the face Felipe has holding baby Elan. I can seriously picture him going, “GOOCHIE GOOCHIE GOO!”
